I think a lot of people, especially weirdo outcasts who are drawn to fandoms like this, have a psychological compulsion to not be a normie or follow the common path. Doesn't matter if that path is better or worse, it just has to be different. They cannot stand being too similar to everyone else—it is mentally discomforting—and truly feel like they NEED to be unorthodox and root for things which are unpopular.
They form an identity around being deliberately contrary to the mainstream or for general nonconformism, for the sake of their own subjective desire for feelings of individuality. I can BET YOU that if Ice Type was neither good nor bad, just middle of the road like say Electric is, that not a single one of you motherfuckers would claim to like it or give a remote fuck about it. This becomes very evident upon reflection of how Ice "fans" are constantly complaining about ways to fix it, never expressing even SLIGHT genuine interest in anything about the Type itself or the designs.
You don't like Ice Type, what you really enjoy is spinning a narrative that you are an oppressed minority and/or an innocent person who is treated unfairly. But if Ice actually didn't suck, you'd have nothing to feel "different" about, and you'd drop Ice. Bugfags, this applies to you too by the way.
