Pokemon don't get happy when in a specific biome, they just need to be near a specific tile.

Normal, Electric, Fighting, Psychic, Poison, Fairy : Green tiles (grass, dry soil, mystic soil...)
Fire : Campfires or ashen soil
Grass : Near grass (any biome)
Water, also Dratini line : Near any water tile
Bug : Either flower tiles, or flower pots
Ground : Sand (beach or desert) or light clay
Ice : Ice tiles
Steel : Light clay
Rock : Either naturally spawned tiles, or statues
Ghost : Cursed soil
Flying : Near trees
Dark : Only happy at night, so you can put them basically anywhere
Dragon : ??? basically any tile I guess?

Also, if a Pokemon is dual-type then both types need to be satisfied.

And the Dragonite line actually wants to be near water for some reason.

Same problem here. I hate having to play with the dpad on the right and the buttons on the left. If they can't get key rebinding right, they could at least add controller support so I could play that way.

So I've played this for a bit over 5 hours, caught Volc with ~lv 25 team and went straight to the mansion and into the basement. Is there any more reason to play this "blind" after this part? I got here pretty quickly.

yes there should be new overworld mons and available mons in general and also look for special cave
maybe more too but that’s what I found on my second island
and next update will have overworld shinies and seems like tons of new mons according to their official discord

A secret that's hard to find and rewards the player for stumbling across it is one thing, but if there's zero hints to distinguish it from a glitch that could fuck your save file is not the best game design. By time someone is asking if they're experiencing a glitch they've already done the "stumbling across this specific trigger in their exploration" step, nudging them in the right direction by telling them they're on their way to something isn't spoiling anything. If anything you sperging out about it to the point of bringing up everything else about that particular secret is the bigger spoiler.
