Group exists because they're allowed in battle facilities. Also most of them are ~580 BST save for obvious outliers like Regigigas and Landorus

Some of these aren't that good. I see no difference between using a Suicune and Hydreigon, if anything Suicune feels kinda worthless compared to some pseudos.

I mainly play Nuzlockes so i ends using whatever i'll get my hands on. Also i tends to gravitate to less powerful Pokemon because it makes for much more interesting playtrough.
Pic related in Crystal will always be my favorite experience - It's not powerful enough to one-shot anything reliably (tho crit Ice Punch on one of Lance's Dragonite can be close enough!) but between screens, elemental punches and few potions it can put a decent fight against most opponents.

I didnt for a time, but i have played most games 20+ times, the gen 3 ones 40+, i dont have many more old gen pokémon to use
The only non legendaries i have left are Lickitung and Stantler
After that some of the less interesting choices in Alola, and most of galars dex, though im not interested in using some
So yeah, legendaries are the only way i have to use new shit, but i limit myself to one per team

You have it backwards, she isn’t saying not to use legends, she’s saying you should use Pokémon you like. The problem is that Game Freak makes this impossible because they doesn’t give a shit about certain Pokémon and only sees them as steeping stones to make shillmons look good. For Karen’s quote to be even remotely feasible, Game Freak would have to balance the game so that all Pokémon are viable and the concept of “shitmons” no longer exists.

As far as I know there's no consensus on this. I think the challenge is more about elimination of grinding and achieving goals through all available means and this puts rare candies in grey zone since you can only obtain a handful of them.
I do agree that completing the challenge without them is inherently more preferable though.
