what "just grind" issue? the problem in every single game is that that it's incredibly easy to overlevel. there should be level caps based on gym badges that are below the gym leader's level.

From what I see, most casuals sit and grind levels instead of dealing with Cynthia or e4, even if game put you on right level for challenge.

Should be non issue with good party, but most players have learning disability.

Gen 5 exp formula was brought back in gen 7 and has been in since, you just don’t notice because it’s mixed in with my exp share. The solution is simple: make the exp curve tighter. Like make it so that even if you fight every single trainer you’ll still be at least a few levels lower than the opponent. If the player still grinds for an hour or more to then be overleveled only to say “damn why is the game so easy now” then that’s their bad. Also design the game to actually be tough enough that soloing with you’re starter just isn’t feasible.
