The worse aspect of Pokemon unironically is the battles which are extremely dull, easy and lacking any kind of strategy playing as you should and extremely weird and out of the context of the game if you go meta.

Comparing it to other games like Monster Hunter Stories, Shin Megami Tensei and even Digimon, why don't Gamefreak update how battles are to a more interesting concept? They can still be turn-based but they could go for a more interesting and novel concept such as giving your Pokemon commands such as Defend, Evade, Jump and so on.
