So far, yes. SwSh and BDSP are severely average games. I don't even mean just for being Pokemon games, but just as games in general.

I went back and replayed X recently, and I laughed remembering how much people hated some of the stuff in it, like the EXP share being handed to you or getting a Kanto starter in Lumiose. The XY/ORAS games are fucking amazing in depth compared to the newer stuff.

Actually BDSP are the better remakes by far. The problem is that D/P are worse than R/S in nearly every conceivable way. The actual style of BDSP is good for maintaining the overall vibe and feeling of playing through sinnoh. OR/AS just completely demolished R/S for the sake of their awful handholding cutscene riddled anime TV show style that makes the modern games unplayable.

Cannot agree personally.
The positive takeaways from USUM are the further elaborations of Necrozma and the super fun, but short, post game, but everything else from the changes to the story and character arcs to that grossly half-baked idea of the ultra recon squad and their society. Seriously, fuck those guys for what they did to Necrozma, why the fuck are we supossed to feel bad for them?

Least with ORAS it was mostly the same but with a more cinematic flare the key moments.

They unironically do, in fact I'd say they're the most legitimately soulful mainline games.
But they're held back by shit map design and endless, pointless hand-holding cutscenes. They're sadly not good games, but they have a lot of heart put into them, which kind of makes it worse.

In terms of content, ORAS is the most abundant game, with an actual fillable national dex of 700 something odd Pokemon, most legendaries are catchable, there are trainer rematches, secret bases, and a (granted half assed) battle facility. Nothing you say can change this fact.

Comparing ORAS to emerald is when you start to see how much they fucked up. Judge the games solely as they are and they look much better.

My main problem with ORAS is that hoenn feels much smaller compared to RSE, while Alola and Galar feel as big as the regions that came before
Both games have little replay value to me and the first time felt much nicer on USUM

I update my pokenav weekly and get new bases. It's not as active as it was before of course, but you can still get new trainers. Usually theyre underleveled or spam legendaries but there are some pretty based players still playing these games. Hunting down the good ones is what makes it fun to me. You can still share and look up QR codes too, Im surprised its not more popular here.

Personally I never felt that much of a difference in size from originals to remakes. It still suffered from the original's issue in that the pacing of the region is still ass. Alola is small, but condensed, they have a lot going for it in such packed areas. Galar is a fucking meme though, the wild area felt like dogshit and was a super jarring feel when you put into the perspective of linear -> massive fucking area -> linear
I understand the point was to come back to it to explore more of the artifically locked away higher level pokemon. I would've appreciated this open area more were it scattered better and in more focused parts of the region instead of being just a big empty bowl.
