I'm a Piplup guy so I often pick this and really like that it gains the Steel typing, but I have to say for in-game, that Steel typing is doing more harm than good. Every mon Empoleon's supposed to be countering is actually beating it in virtue of its steel typing. Nearly everything I see has either a Ground or a Fighting coverage move, and Empoleon's often too slow to react or doesn't do enough damage to justify using it over any other Water mons, which really sucks. I'm aware Empoleon's pretty good competitively, and the Steel type is a boon there as well, but in-game, I'm even getting outpaced by even Bertha's Golem of all things and eating Earthquake and taking unnecessarily high damage from Fire moves which it should resist if it weren't for the Steel typing.
Help me out here Empoleon bros. Is it just not suited for this region or am I doing something wrong? Where does Empoleon shine in-game and how does it fare compared to Torterra or Infernape for the main campaign?
