It is weird seeing a lot of FRLG hate out of nowhere recently. Feels very inorganic. They aren't the best remakes, but they're definitely better than BDSP, ORAS, and USUM.

There's one thing I hate with FRLG, but I hate it with a burning passion and I actually think that thing only makes them the worst main games in the series, and that is the music. The soundfont is terrible, everything is too high-pitched, they destroyed the original music.

So that leaves with Bellossom, Blissey, and Crobat. Gloom is a already a version exclusive, so giving Fire Red another option in the main game wouldn't really be fair. Chansey is extremely rare and already a top tier Kanto mon to begin with - it's a postgame Pokemon for nearly everyone. No, what you're mad about is the fact that your shitmon Golbat couldn't evolve before obtaining the national dex. No one gave two shits about not getting any of the Johto evos before beating the game with the sole exception of Crobat because Zubat was extremely common and easy to evolve. If Crobat didn't exist, no one would have ever complained about no Johto evos in the first place.

Everyone jacks off HGSS for letting you evolve the ancient power evos before beating the E4, but no one mentions the fact that every other sinnoh evo is obtained anywhere from post E4 all the way to post Kanto. You can't even obtain Leafeon, Glaceon, and Magnezone in HGSS and must trade them to Platinum like you needed to with evolving Eevee into Espeon and/or Umbreon. Again, no one gave a damn.

You never once tried to evolve the Chansey you never caught in the Safari Zone and instead transfered Chansey from xD into Emerald. You never once even gave Kingdra, Politoed, Slowking the time of day before they were meta. And you certainly never used a sun stone for reasons other than completing the national dex.

Time has nothing to do with it, Pokemania had died down by the third Gen, so in a desperate attempt to revive it they released FRLG. They were working on the remakes before the third Gen even released in the West.

Game Freak still didn't really have the clock stuff figured out yet in gen 3 (the seed in RS would stay the same with a dead battery as opposed to Emerald just always defaulting to 0 which opened its own can of worms) and still wanted to keep the original playthrough at least somewhat faithful to the original. You gotta remember that xD released much later and was developed by Genius Sonority.

thing is, outside of some of the moves not being retarded, the game mechanics being different didn't really change anything if you weren't playing with friends. i guess there's steel and dark type moves (and actual ghost and dragon moves, though those types are rare anyway), but how much does that really change in the campaign? you can beat brock easier with charmander i guess, but he doesn't have rock type moves in gen 1 and his mons special stat are low.

Definitely. There's tons of leftover data in FR/LG that showed at least two more additional Sevii Islands were planned, with even more additional routes and areas within the existing ones. I wouldn't be surprised if a more fleshed out battle facility was planned too for Island 7.
Then there's weird stuff like the Altering Cave that had a bunch of inaccessible Johto mons that were going to be triggered by an event.

For one, The utterly retarded handling of non gen 1 evos. I wouldn’t have even minded not using them if they just prevented the evolution scene from playing. But for me the main thing is that they updated the mechanics but literally nothing else, and Gen 1 was designed with gen 1 mechanics in mind. They should’ve rebalanced the whole game around the new mechanics but they didn’t and you can really feel this. Also sevii islands absolutely should’ve been post game only, it obliterates the pace of the games. I know you can refuse but it still feels terrible.

Thanks, I figured If I done it in RBY I could do it in the remakes besides most of it was spamming A at the slots hoping I get lucky and profit, or spend cash to get coins so it's not that hard, just time consuming. I'm just glad my 'tism wasn't bad enough to do living dexes back then or i'd have to get 2 Porygons that way, or just breed one with ditto, that would've worked as well

It's alright but I prefer replaying RBY. The lack of polish, the graphics, the glitches, the OST, gives them so much charm and makes the originals a completely unique experience.
