People started to look at Ivysaur as a feminine pokemon because of Smash

both bulbasaur and ivysaur voiced by women in Japanese dub which is common for young characters in anime.
the Western dub gave both a more masculine voice to fit the "dinosaur" theme

I'm not a fan of irl frogs but I like all the frog Pokemon designs, with the exception of Greninja. Ivysaur and the Bulbasaur line hits the bullseye with making animals look like Pokemon with only a few additional features.
