I want to play one of these and I have a few questions

Should I emulate Pokemon Red/Blue on PC or my phone?
Which emulator should I use?
Is there a way I can trade with myself so I can get stuff like Machamp?
Is it worth trying to fill Pokedex can you not get around version exclusives?

Phone if you can stand touchscreen controls, PC if not. I like VBA on PC and My OldBoy on android. Pretty sure most emulators support trading between ROMs by now. The mew glitch will let you get around exclusives if you find a trainer with a Pokemon that has the right special stat number for the specific pokemon you want.

It should be noted that the only thing that gets corrupted is the hall of fame, which you can fix just by going through the hall of fame.

I just want to be able to fill the pokedex I wouldnt have to worry about glitching at release since I could trade with people (if I had friends at the time but I didn't and I was a poorfag)

i have been playing shin green, it has a lot of qol enhancements that doesn't radically alter the core experience
and on top of it it replaces the sprites with the original versions, pic related old-old school

Yes, Japanese red and green are even more broken than the English red and blue are. In Japan they released Blue shortly after with graphical updates, bugfixes and engine tweaks, and different pokemon availability. The international R/B are based on this version but with the pokemon availability of red and green to make two versions. That's why the in game trade in Cinnabar says the Raichu you traded him for an Electrode evolved, because the in game trade in Japanese Blue was a Kadabra for a Graveler and they forgot to change the dialogue.

......yes, Red and Green were pretty buggy, Red and Blue were a bit better, Yellow was a bit better

Shin Green is all fixed up, it applies over a Blue version rom

TGB dual lets you trade between two roms if you have two different .sav files, it's not that complicated.
