No excuse. There are plenty of amazing shinies gens 1-5. If they were all this weak I'd say you have a point. But gengar being so bad compared to the rest just doesn't cut it.

There are several similar bad examples. Even Pikachu's shiny is bad. Yeah there are good ones but it's random in a sense.

Yes there are, but that doesn't contradict my argument. If there was only one single shiny that wasn't this bad, it would be enough to prove that the poor choice wasn't due to technical restriction.

The only noticable shiny Gengar was Gen 2 even though Gengar was meant to be black with purple highlights, it's shiny was a much brighter shiny. Every gen after that it's just a slight different shade. At least hive them different color eyes

That's a later gen retcon. Original Charizard shiny is purple with green wings.

I wasn't aware there was an argument. I'm just saying they never put any thought into shinies until gen 6. Gens 3-5 didn't even have any technical restrictions. They were more autistic about their methods than the outcome.

Dunno man, I'm liking BDSP. MOST of the pokemon look really good in it. Obviously there are exceptions. Suicune was clearly never meant to be in 3D, his entire back half looks really empty/flat which makes it look really bad in the default back view when selecting a move.
Legendaries like dialga having that weird squatting stance that looks like it's about to shit, etc... But I'm liking most pokeymanes in this level of fidelity.

BASED, I would be compelled to run it in a team guaranteed. Really, though, what’s keeping TPCI and GF from just making additional shiny / alt palettes for pre-gen 6 mons? Just seems like a huge gain for the audience and a no brainer economic decision for them, as it would require very little effort beyond the initial quality control phase during design.

They don't have a choice dude, the shiny system worked by just shifting the palette value up, so the colors would always be whatever the next palette is. They weren't individualized.

I dunno why they dont fix some shinies, they did with Combusken, so why not others that dont change at all, I got a shiny Togetic in a den raid and had no idea it was a shiny, it was by pure chance to I chose it over everything else and it was shiny.
