Like Mallow and Lana, Sophocles and Molayne, Guzma and Kukui, Hala and Hau, Lillie, Gladion and Lusamine etc. Hell, even random NPCs get character development in the form of the countless side quests in USUM. And all of this without making the character designs obnoxious
