Why did Diamond outsell
Pearl by such a large margin? Is pearl considered the girly version?

I would have bought Pearl but they put Ho-oh my beloved in Diamond. Rampardos was more fun to use than Bastiodon anyway.

The differences in DP are maybe the smallest in the whole series you're really just picking a version for 3 pokemon

In my city, everyone had Pearl, and I wanted Pearl too but it was sold out. I had to get Diamond and everyone thought I was weird to have Diamond...

It really does come down to that with every game and anyone who thinks it's exclusives is wrong. The majority of the kids buying it likely don't know or care about those details(but Diamond is by far the superior version anyway).

And would you look at that, that unique area is almost completely irrelevant. The differences between Black and White are almost entirely aesthetic, the functional differences between them are a fucking joke. That largely applies to their sequels as well, but marginally less so.

I'd argue that RB's changes are bigger when you account for the relative scale of the games compared to DP. That handful of exclusives gets a lot more mileage when you're working with 59 less dex slots.

pokemon always has one "primary" persion (Red, Gold, Ruby, Diamond, White etc) with the other version being the "underdog" version (Blue, Silver, Sapphire, Pearl, Black etc)

I personally always opt for the underdog version because i'm not a sheep who follows the crowd
