Gen 5 Pokemon still feel very foreign to me. Not because I didn't like the game or anything, but because there were so many of them all at once, and a-lot of them are just hard to raise.
I really wanted to get a Braviary during pre-release, but Rufflet is a late-game 'mon that doesn't evolve until 50+. And they KNOW they fucked up, because BW2 lets you can catch a fully evolved Braviary at Lv. 25 in the desert. There's also a Lv. 35 Volcarona, and a free Zorua from Team Plasma because it used to be event only. Then there's like, Bsharp and Mienshao who are both great, but also evolve at 50+. Eelektross is cool too, but training Tynamo is complete dogshit. They tried to replicate the Magikarp thing (where he's useless in the beginning), but the thing is that Margikarp evolves relatively early. You could have a Gyarados by Misty or Surge if you grind out for a bit. AND speaking of Magikarp, you ALSO don't get a fishing rod until post-game for some reason. So I just never bothered raising Basculin or a Jellicent or the Not!Luvdisc evo.
Like, these 'mons are just so unwieldy.
