This proves without a shadow of a doubt that TPC and Game Freak are aware of what makes a Pokémon good, and that the reason only reason certain Pokémon are worthless due to bad stats, worthless abilities, or barren movepools is because TPC/Game Freak is sabotaging them and hates their fans.

It's impossible for every Pokemon to be good. Of course they know what makes them good or bad, they design them. Just like a fighting game has characters on the roster that are better or worse than others, it's not an accident. Kirby has been a complete shitter in every Smash Bros. game, it would have been effortless to "fix" him after one or two games. But they want him to retain what makes him unique as a character, so they've made few significant changes. The same applies to Pokemon. Variety is more important than equality.

Well yes, but shit like Typhlosion's movepool and Rock & Ice being shit typings for 25 years and counting is downright inexcusable.

Movepools are essential as part of a Pokemon's identity. It'd be very easy to give every Pokemon the best moves because moves, like Pokemon, are varied with some being better and worse than others. The same applies to the types. Some being better than others is by design. It's not a perfect system, which is why Fairy was created to add some balance when Dragon became objectively overpowered, but it's a mistake to think it isn't done by design.

In slight defense, Rock was actually pretty good in Gen 1 were Normal moves were more prominent, coverage options were rare and the steel type didn’t exist. also game freak actually buffed the rock type with the sandstorm SpD buff. (Still not great defensively but it’s not completely awful)

That other stuff in inexcusable though. Ice should have at least one other resistance (preferably flying), and Typhlosion should have gotten Earth Power 10 years ago.

while i do agree with you to a certain extent, i have seen how dramatic of an affect a change in a movepool can have on a pokemons viability, so i can sort of understand why they are hesitsnt to just slap a bunch of moves on pokemon. i think the typing argument is a bit more robust, since the typing system is unbalanced, but i think this is less of a problem than it seems, because typing, while extremely important, i think is just a bit less important than movepools. for example, consider the current suspect test. if latios were steel psychic (still with levitste) as opposed to dragon psychic, this would impact it less than if it were to lose draco meteor. i get that it would lose STAB, but thats still a choice specs 130 SpAtack coming to wreck anything it hits. so personally, i think movepools end up having an overall larger impact. i could be completely wrong and talking put of my ass

Kirby was the second best in 64, only surpassed by Pikachu. It was the absolute best on casual matches due to pikachu's highly demanding execution. It was heavily nerfed by Sakurai from melee and onwards to avoid the perception he had a bias towards his chatacters. And then he created the abomination that was Brawl's Meta Knight, who was nerfed in 4 but it was still a viable character for competitive.

You need weak pokémon to have strong pokémon. Also I know this is pointless cause you're going to read the following sentence as "small indie company please understand", but it's impossible to balance them all, it's only natural that around 30 of them will be plain superior no matter how hard you tried balancing them.
