They wasted it on some throwaway, poorly setup scenario involving Mega Stones and some fake ass clan that was never foreshadowed or had any relevance in any Pokemon media.
It sucks because Zinnia has a really fuckable design, but ORAS gave her major hobo vibes, and on top of that she got like 15 minutes of screentime shoehorned in at the very end of a game, so the fan artists hardly acknowledge her existence
