>>48983003>What does the big about the dexes mean?At a glance the regional dexes in Gen 6+ have huge numbers with there being multiple of them in one centralized region, but the fact is that only Kalos actually utilized that bit correctly by having the Coastal, Mountain, and Central Kalos pokedexes being completely unique.
By contrast, the Alola and Galar Pokedexes all spam the same exact entries of Pikipek or Skwovet over and over again. It doesn't do anything for the player like the Gen 6 dex did other than make it harder to see what Pokemon you're actually missing by forcing you to sift through all the repeated dex entries.
It's not a big deal, but it does come across as a poor attempt to make Gen 7 or 8 feel like their dexes are bigger when in actuality they're just the same size as every other pre-gen 5 dex.
