I've never played gen3
Should I gonwith the og games or the gba ones? Why?

Assuming OP means GBA or 3DS.

I think they're both great. 3DS has more content, QOL and (at the time of writing) online capabilities.

You can emulate Emerald for battle frontier...if you care about competitive teams. It's still fun tho.

The original Ruby and Sapphire are obsolete.
Either play Emerald if you're a classic enthusiast, or ORAS if you want to experience Hoenn with more modern standards.
Don't listen to anyone who claims "ORAS is shit because >muh Battle Frontier", they both have their individual merits in terms of the content they provide.

the physical special split and bein able to use gen 4-6 mons is cool but i'd say emerald edges it out overall. probably just emulate it though, mon games are gettin real expensive these days.

there's two splits, one is the special stat becoming attack and defense in G/S/C and the other one that happens in D/P/P and onward is one where attacks from a pokemon are determined to be either physical or special attacks, it makes stuff like gyardos and sneasel useful because before they couldn't make use of either or
