while you're 100% wrong, as someone that will take gen 1 and 2 over any other gen, the pandering is atrocious and i hate it. i don't mind sprinkling in fan favorite pokemon, but gen 1 dick sucking is pretty bad.

agreed. only thing i think they could've done to make it better was let you connect a frlg cart with hgss so that he has your team. dunno where that could've been put in though. pal park? and presumably you'd be able to refight him there which kinda cheapens the mystery a little so i see why it didn't happen.
