As an autist who watched the entire series, Johto is hands down the most boring part. 20 episodes of nothing between gym battles or “plot points”. The only good thing about this region was the songs and the nostalgia but boy did was this a slog to get through. And that’s saying something for this toy commercial.

The point of the anime back then (when it was still handpainted and comfy) was to enjoy the everyday life of the Pokemon world, not to watch Ass Keptchup win or lose gym battles

i liked when ash nearly froze in a cave but his pokemon were adament about freezing together thus saving his life, and i think it's the arc where bulbasaur supposedly dies and that is the saddest part in the whole series

In New Zealand they sometimes randomly aired Snow Way Out on Christmas Day because snow, lol, so if channels in the US did the same you might have seen it during the Johto series airing.
