If you wanted to use an actual argument, even if it's from a different continuity family, the Veilstone myth being expanded on in the Adventures manga would imply some accuracy. However, even in that case it deviates greatly. All myths exist for a reason, the point of the matter is we don't know the exact reason. All that's true in both English and Japanese is that people thought humans and Pokemon were once the same. That's the important message of the myth, why are we considered different now?
