No. The plot really doesn’t matter that much. Emerald is the mainline game with the most double battles by far. Play it for that reason alone.

I just noticed, after looking at the image you posted, that Defense-Normal-Attack can be abbreviated as DNA, which goes well with Deoxys' theme of being Deoxyribonucleic Acid or DNA. I don't know why that didn't click in earlier. Probably because I always see it listed as Normal, Attack, Defense, Speed.
