Gen 5 has won best Grass-types.
Gen 2 has won best Fire-types.

Gen 2 has great watermons but i have to go with gen 1. Slowbro, tentacruel, cloyster, vaporeon, starmie, it just has such a varied yet good looking selection. Seaking is really the only stinker

Gen 2 won Fire? I was genuinely surprised, then I realized that no gen is clearly superior desu, y'all needed more votes. Why do Fire-types suck, /vp/? Usually half will be great, the other half will be terrible, no inbetween.

Anyways, for Water types, Kanto reigns supreme. It's got the most after all.

It was basically Charizard and Arcanine vs Typhlosion and Houndoom and Houndoom won because of the edge. Blaziken and Infernape alone cannot carry their respective gens, and Darumaka, Chandelure and Larvesta are too divisive as they came out in Gen 5. Fire bird, sexy lizard, and flame centipede aren't enough to carry their gens.

Not that it has much competition though. At least Hoenn gives Kanto a run for its money in Water IMO. Crobat can only do so much for Gen 2, and while Gen 4 has some real solid Poison types, the sheer quantity of Gen 1 makes it so that there's really no competition.

Gen 4 honestly gives 5 a run for its money on Ghost I think, although to be fair I think Ghost is one of the best spread types, at least from Gen 3 onwards (if you include the Gen 3 megas).
But yeah, Bug is in the bag for Gen 5.
