Most pokemon got their shapes modernized or toned up to look more like their artworks once sprites got more detailed. Look at pokemon like chubbychu, Legendary birds, Legemdary beasts, and hell most gen 1/2 sprites and compared them to their designs today. Beta Sirfetched would have suffered the same fate with his looks being butchered because his beta sprite just wouldn't translate well. The only thing different is that he'd look more like a gay ass swan given Gamefreaks record.
