ok i will seemingly be the first to admit it on this board, this is the best pokemon game hands down, the music, the aesthetics, the available pokemon, the post game, the geometry and landscapes, the remakes.

i like the idea of platinum a lot but it's too slow. playing lvl 100 battle factory sucks because it's so slow.
it's faster than DP but still a snails pace compared to other gens. like, playing gen v for a while and then going back to this sucks.

No matter how many times I see this the Hoenn fan can't actually explain what it means.
All the starters in Platinum are more fun to use.
Staraptor and Bibarel and more fun than Swellow and Bibarel. In fact I don't particularly like many Hoenn pokemon.
Brendan/May are jokes. I don't like Birch either.
Team Magma and Aqua are dull.
Battle Pike is shit. Battle Palace is shit. Battle Dome does not even have a gimmick.
Emerald is only praised for its routes, and winning the longest hallway award isn't much to me.

It's boring, slow, has bad pokemon distribution, tries to copy the emerald BF and fails. People will praise it because of much distortion world but that's all they have.

I dislike the fact that you can't visit Iccirus city in BW2 until the postgame. It has the best music, IMO. It sounds sort of Celtic/Gaelic. Same with Dendemille in Kalos.

I dunno about that, Swellow is actually fantastic. The bird is speed incarnate. I also think Team Aqua and Team Magma are a lot more entertaining than Team Galactic, especially since they get redeemed at the end.

It's kind of hilarious though, because I found Nuzlocking Emerald harder than nuzlocking Platinum, mainly because of the double battles (Tate and Liza in particular).

Gen V is blamed for making power creep worse but Gen IV shouldn't be blamed for starting power creep in the first place. Scald is bad, but Close Combat and Draco Meteor are fine. Okay...

It's a general consensus that gen 4 battles slow. Yes even Pt. The sinnoh region itself is boring and reuses the same tiles everywhere and has you back tracking for most of the game, going to areas you've already explored on several occasions. I can't be bothered to replay these games unless I have a gun to my head. At which point just shoot me.

Yeah the "engine" engine is pretty slow, but I was specifically referring to the battle systems. I personally love the backtracking of the region (and I love it in the first half of hoenn, too). it makes the region feel like a real, connected place to me. I would say that mt coronet and meteor falls are my favourite two dungeons in all pokemon because of how they hold their regions together

then we get to gen 5 where you have boosting gems and indirect nerf to steels you suddenly start having more issues with draco meteor being strong

I'd argue that Sinnoh doesn't loop in on itself as well as the first three regions actually. You can return all the way back to Petalburg from Mosdeep simply by taking optional routes. Same with Johto (Blackthorn to Route 29) and Kanto (Fuchsia to Cinnabar or Cinnabar to Pallet). That's not true for Sinnoh. You can't go from Sunyshore to Twinleaf/Sandgem without backtracking or routes you've already taken.

Yeah, but you're forced to take the Hearthome/Eterna entrance if you want to go to Spear Pillar and not the Celestic one, even though the latter would make more sense. You also need a lot of HMs to traverse Mt. Coronet.

Platinum is full of small details that are absolutely amazing when you dig into them, and one of my favorites is the placement of Absol in the regional dex. You find it as you're scaling Mt. Coronet, having just learned that cyrus intends to summon Dialga and Palkia to spear pillar and recreate the universe...No doubt, Absol is appearing towards the summit because it senses the oncoming apocalypse of universal rebirth. Right?

Well, it can be interpreted that way...But there's a better way of looking at it: what is Absol's number in the Platinum Pokedex? #209.
JUST BEFORE GIRATINA.

Absol isn't foreseeing the rebirth of the universe, albeit that is probably part of its presence at coronet. No, it is serving as an omen of the appearance of Giratina, who in coming to the real world has created a portal to the distortion world, potentially causing the destruction of both. The fact that Absol precedes Giratina in the pokedex like this can't be coincidental, and it's one of my favorite details in ANY Pokemon game.
