charizard is a dragon. it does not matter what you said or how much you desire to troll, you cannot change the fact that charizard is in the dragon egg group and attained the dragon type at least once in the franchise's lifetime. it doesn't matter if megas are culled indefinitely. it doesn't need to be a permanent evolution. it doesn't matter if he's fire flying every other time. it doesn't matter if you say it's fanfic. he got the type. they approved the type and applied it to charizard. he is a dragon. it does not matter what you respond to this post because your words cannot change this fact, nor my everlasting love for the zard. i won't even tell you to cope or seethe or dilate, i just want this narrative to be challenged and judged by all who sees.

he's literally not. i will give you that he has dragon energy (see pic related), that's why lance uses him, but he's fire flying. gamefreak will never make him dragon type, well never permanently. it'd be cheap to give it to a starter.

A few years ago I introduced my young cousin to Pokemon. I gave him my old DS, a copy of Platinum and my old Pokedex book that only went up to Gen 4.

A few days later he's drawing pictures of Charizard. The book didn't emphasize any Pokemon above the rest. Charizard wasn't even on the cover. And obv wasn't in the game he was playing. Charizard just appeals to a lot of young boys. It's that simple.

It's basically the most vanilla as fuck Pokemon design you can point to, easy to conceptualize, remember and recreate. It's lamentable but understandable why so many would flock to it. That and GF finding some way to put it or a reference to it in every game after Sinnoh helped things.

Unova is the the dragon region, it will be needed for the final battle against the original dragon
