>>49011100Gamefreak has an extremely autistic aversion to performing any sort of retcons that changes past Pokemon beyond dumping a token +10 buff to a stat. This is why they'll never change the gender ratio of any pokemon no matter what, or significantly alter their stats in an actually meaningful way.
>>49011033>muh smoggiesSorry tard but the kiddy diddlers have no connection to Gardevoir being garbage, it's shit in all the official formats as well and has been garbage in VGC for longer than it was garbage in OU.
>>49010933I've used Aggron myself; I fully acknowledge it's fucking garbage in battle but the occasional double-dance sweep makes it worthwhile.
>>49011033The two problems with Gardevoir are it's terrible stats/movepool, and the fact that for every role you could possibly think of for Gardevoir, multiple mons of it's typing(s) already exist that do the job better.
Being stuck with Trace as the only viable ability doesn't help much either.
For Gardevoir to suddenly become good, and NOT horribly bomb at this like the Mega did, you would need to:
>Alter it's stats to give it a more defined niche>Give it an ability that actually helps it accomplish said niche, as the lack of an effective ability is part of what puts it behind so many other options>Add a select few moves to it's Movepool to work with said niche>Give players a reason to actually use it for the niche over other optionsGF can't be assed to even do step one when making the Mega, much less two through four.
If you want to give Gardevoir it's own identity, and make it genuinely have a niche, the best way to do this would be to lean into it's protective nature and have it become a special wall. Give it reliable recovery and boost it's sp.def at the cost of some other stat and it'd probably see some success at least.
