That's true for Hoenn too. Even for Kanto to a lesser extent. Power creep started in Sinnoh and got worse in Unova.

BST doesn’t mean much. Movepool and abilities are arguably much more important. It would make more sense if there graphs showing the viability of each generation’s Pokémon.

Almost the entirety of gen 3 are below average, it's just that the good ones are really good. The reason the recollection is skewed is because the Hoenn games are the easiest and a lot of the shitmons seem a lot better when self-contained, it's like how the Alola games do really well at hiding just how fucking slow damn near everything is.

The Sinnoh BST is inflated because the Dex is small and many of the Pokemon are evolutions of previous Pokemon. My point was that Pokemon from the first three gens didn't really differ that much from each other. Hoenn Pokemon have higher Attack and SpAtk on average than Kanto and Johto Pokemon, Johto Pokemon have higher HP and SpDef on average than Kanto or Hoenn Pokemon, and Kanto Pokemon have higher Speed on average than Hoenn or Johto Pokemon. However, when averaged out they are almost the same. So the powecreep didn't really start until Gen 4.

The only one that has an abundance of viable types is Kanto, and probably the closest after that is Galar.
I don't get why people talk about Johto shitmons as if it isn't the same everywhere else. Do you think people are using Kricketune and Pelipper?

Ariados is actually good to use in casual playthroughs. Night Shade is good early on, and it can get STAB Sludge Bomb. Psychic and Giga Drain are also decent. In newer gens, it can get Shadow Sneak as well.
