The amount of stuff cut from the previous three entries with the trade off being "3d demons" and "open areas that are really shitty dungeons otherwise" is amazing.

Not as much as you'd think. V has no following demons outside of a few specific instances, no proper scaling. It also cut a bunch of demons, despite having P5's roster to pull from. Welp, at least smt gives you a difficulty toggle. Just like every game for the past 30 years, except pokemon for whatever reason (B2W2 """hard mode""" was basically a pointless postgame feature, tgat wasnt even brought back in future installments).

You can play Pokemon games however you want. Breeze through with starter, raise team, nuzlocke, trade in pokemon from other games, wondertrade, etc. The experience is whatever you want, a cool casual experience or something more challenging if you want. Even so difficulty =/= quality.

Everyone plays pokemon for the monster designs and nothing more because the games were designed around being played by children, any interesting difficulty or challenge to the games are locked behind post-game content and the multiplayer aspect. They could easily pander to all groups with a difficulty toggle so people who actually want a challenge wouldn't have to wait for the non canonical post game to get what they want.
