Kyurem only was bad to begin with because it was given an abysmally small, completely useless movepool. Everything else about it was good or great. Even its weird typing had its own advantages. In Gen 8 they finally fixed the movepool issue, getting Kyu-B quickbanned and now eventually Kyurem banned too. This was bound to happen at some point in Pokemon basically, it was just Gen 8 that happened to be the one that padded its movepool out enough to get it banned.

Current kyurem in generation 8 ou simply cannot be built against in the teambuilder, any checks or counters for one of its sets lose to its others and it has a ton of flexibility within similar team styles. Added onto this its offensive presence tends to chunk though those checks and proceed to run through whole teams.

Remember when people were talking about a Toxapex suspect test and it never fucking happened ever despite being extremely overcentralizing and hard to kill, taking zero skill to use and just drags the battle out? They don’t give a fuck about banning broken Pokémon as long as they benefit stall. Just look at GSC Snorlax. It was considered the best Pokémon in UBERS and they never even tried to ban it, but they kill fucking misdreavus because it can perishtrap snorlax

The reason kyurem got banned primarily is because there really isn't a consistent answer to kyurem that you can bring to a match that will beat every set it has. It tends to be able to run different sets on the same teams to similar effectiveness. As an example, if you bring assault vest melmetal in on kyurem to beat it thinking it is going to substitute, but instead it focus blasts, melmetal will take over 57% (bare minimum with max hp, sp.def and careful nature) and die to kyurem the proceeding turn instead of beating it.

Stall has always sucked in real Pokemon. In fanfic meta it's overwhelmingly the most used strategy in the higher ladder and has been since the old guard left. And just because a single Kyurem set is being used in stall doesn't mean it's not fucking stall over by its popularity, Zygarde had stall usage yet they still banned it because it fucked them more than it helped them. I can put it like this, ho losing kyurem means they lost one of a lot of attackers, kyurem was the center of a lot of stall(and by extension balance)teams. stall got a bigger nerf from losing kyurem than ho. So the logic that smogon bans all offensive pokemon because they want stall to be overpowered just doesn't add up

This is a bad way to interpret the data, kyurem having a winning matchup against stall rather than as, could also just mean stall is bad... which it is, meaning we at the very least, know there is more to it than that.

I keep comparing it to Zygarde for a reason, and you're using the same logic they did to defend that ban when it happened too. Kyurem's presence is affecting team building in a way that hurts stall, both because it's a stallbreaker and because its counters also negatively affect stall as well. Without Kyurem the meta also shifts away from its counters, so now stall doesn't have to deal with a popular stallbreaker or the counters it was bringing up in usage.

Yeah because it's one of the Special Pokemon and those are automatically restricted in official play just like Mythics are. There was no conscious decision to ban it, it was banned as soon as it existed because of its official categorization.
