I know we we’re a little over a month away from the release of PLA but I hope you guys are psyched for it.

I’m not sure if I’m saying this cause I’ve had a few right now but I just like having a new game to look forward to and this one actually looks different from other Pokémon games, like GF is actually trying to do something different. I mean catching Pokémon while flying through the air on a Basculegion sounds pretty cool to me (and the new Pokémon are all cool too). I dunno, just nice to have something fun to look forward to.

Anyway, PLA hype thread I guess.

this is true but it's almost like they're actively making things worse visually when i know the switch can handle far better - plus it doesn't feel like there's much of an art direction or style going on here - picrel looks like just assets that are kinda there without much rhyme or reason. not to mention the gameplay looks very risky as well - catching pokemon over and over to fulfill arbitrary research can quickly become boring as hell. maybe it won't be, but this game is looking like a major cointoss so far

Pokemon GO's steadily growing back up to its boom popularity, and has only been making more and more revenue as it went on. So even if all you do is catch Pokemon (even though battling's still in the game, as are other trainers) there's a proven demand for games like that. And Pokemon's always looked like ass, it's just more noticeable now, the comparative quality gap's basically unchanged.

What exactly is your standard for good gameplay in Pokemon? Why aren't you interested in Pokemon expanding more on catching and boss battles?

Any chance at all it'll have every gen 1-4 pokemon like BDSP? I don't have faith, especially with its new animations(?)

I doubt it will if only because that sort of defeats the point of dexcut if they release 2 games back to back where 1 has the entire dex of the other and then some. We know it has all gen 4 Pokemon and the prerequisites, and there's likely at least some gen 8 Pokemon from screenshots of the Galar buildings and merchants. Aside from those it's safe to assume it probably has a marginally modified version of BDSP's regional dex as the basis, and its "nat" dex is probably a hash of missing Pokemon and some mixed gen stuff as filler.
