red++ and polished crystal can be summarized in the same boat – they don't seem to have much to contribute to make them the definitive versions of how to play the games aside from debatable changes
- removing CAPS LOCK reduces readability but your own thoughts will vary. point being, it's not a clear upgrade and doesn't alone justify the games
- swapping out BERRY, PSNCURBERRY, etc. for Oran Berry, Leichi Berry, and all those other berries I never bothered to learn the names/functionality of is just an annoyance
- the choices of what pokémon to add to the 151 of RB in Red++ seems entirely arbitrary and is just annoying. presumably it is meant as a point of concept but why the fuck is zigzagoon there
- polished crystal is mostly an upgrade but seems to take it as a given that all of HGSS's changes were improvements and i'm the minority that thinks everything HGSS did is just annoying
really, all Gen 2 needs is the phys/spec split. Gen 1 is a murkier case but I don't know if what Red++ is offering clears it up at all.
