Hello,
someone at gamefreak here,
we decided to to nerf the fairy type for gen 9 because it has to be worst type we have ever created

Ice resisting anything other than just itself is something Game Freak would never allow to let happen. In fact, Ice is getting nerfed in Legends Arceus out of concern that Hisuian Avalugg may be game-breakingly OP.

they also took away Stone Edge from its movepool just to be safe
