>the next Pokemon game should take place in a shithole country nobody cares about
You do realize the only factor taken into choosing and designing regions is marketability and popularity? Literally every region chosen so far had a massive amount of Pokemon customers, especially for ones outside of Japan.
Therefore, we can easily predict that there are three possible regions for Gen 9.
>China: Most obvious marketing-wise, ridiculous amount of potential customers, might not be so popular outside of China, especially in Japan. Bonus points for returning to Asia.
>Europe again: a non-shithole European country, Germany would be too close to Kalos (and you can't really explore that culture in a way Kalos didn't), might be a nordic country with "lol vikings" aesthetic. Negative points for returning to the same continent twice in a row.
>America again: Los Angeles/Bay Area/probably even a Las Vegas reference all seem not just extremely likely, but easily marketable. USA is always Nintendo's priority after Japan and we already had two American regions.
