Depends how open the game is. Given the environment, I hope it is a open world game to a decent extend. Because the towns seem so far apart and very small from what we have seen. The ONLY things I have an issue with at this point are the textures. The water looks repeated. The ground looks repeated. The skins on the NPCs have a ton of distortion. If they manage to clean those things up (they won’t), it’ll be perfect in my book.

No, but I'm praying I'll be pleasantly surprised anyway. There's clearly a lot of that autistic GF appreciation to denial in weird places going into this and many criticisms I've had since the series went 3D (inexpressive characters, turning 180 degrees while walking on the spot and the ability to choose whether to battle wild mon or just catch them via the overworld) as well as being a single player focused experience. But its Game Freak at the end of the day so god knows how the end product will end up. I'd love to enjoy a new Pokemon game for once instead of going back to the Pre-3D games, especially since there's no dumb gimmick attached, but I guess wIll just have to wait and see.

the good thing is someone will probably make a texture overhaul mod for the game. Hopefully they don't give up on it or not care to update it like with Swoosh though. From what I believe we know, it's a mostly single player game aside from maybe trading, so ya can just mod the game to your hearts content to fix it's issues, assuming ya have the option available to you. (Also you can always just pirate the game and play it on an emulator if you don't have qualms about it and have a good PC, if ya don't have a modded switch or don't wanna buy it.)

That's a good thing. The keep the general idea the same (Lakes and mountains where they should be, landmass roughly the same shape, biomes in roughly the same spots etc) but otherwise take major liberties in terms of map design. Which is perfect, I don't want them tied down trying to recreate a DS map, it's just the right balance IMO

There are 10 to 15 minute cooldowns with low karma and you cannot reply to multiple people. You can tag multiple people in a comment, but if you get a reply that will be moved off into its own chain that will not be easily visible to others. The end result is you get four seperate threads that are an extreme hassle for people to keep track of. The imageboard system of one thread going down the page is far superior.

Anon, look at the character icon. We've already seen trailers of them running from spawn to the part where it opens up. It along is about the size of the Great Plateau, if very slightly smaller but also the sea could be more expanded than the map shows.
Its a fixed overworld, I don't know what your trying to imply.

that's not all. this game has just 1 settlement, and even that looks ugly as fuck. even swshit had better looking towns/cities/routes. only the wild area looked horrible.
this game is just wild area, but now applied to the entire game.

it really doesn't look that big. there are 5 sections. 1 section is specifically for the town. the other four are also marked in the map here >>49031807
so >>49031336 this area is obviously the 1 section directly to the right side of the town (hill surrounded by rivers and the big tree known as "grand tree" and one of the guardian lakes to the left)
I'm guessing the only section that hasn't been marked in the map is mt coronet, which will most likely work similar to the other 4 sections (locked behind progress)

Literally fucking good. The wild area and moreso the DLC areas, are literally the only good parts of SwSh. I suppose you’d rather the cramped linear routes? Or the utterly empty cities?

Anon what? Have you played Breath of the Wild? They do the same thing with Hyrule. The map significant locations are in the same places like in OoT or Twlight Princess, but they take creative liberties with the general area. It’s over 100 years in the past, of course things are going to look a bit different.

There was a Zelda fan theory that gave the reason for Hyrule changing so much between games being due to the gorons, who are known to eat mountains worth of rocks. Then when they die their bodies are basically left as boulders littered around the place. Biggoron himself is the size of a small hill. I figure you can use the same theory for Pokémon, just replace the gorons with rock types like Graveler and Onix. Even the Pokédex states that Aron and Larvitar eat mountains. And even leaving that part aside, someone with a decently strong mon could level an area of land in an afternoon if they wanted.
