>The Split - a permanent change made to moves and the battle engine as a whole. Also, a retarded point for you to bring up at all, since it was a great change.>new battle types - these are not an in-battle gimmick, but rather a new battle mode. Double Battles weren’t intoduced until gen 3>Special Attack/Special Defense split - again, fundamental and permanent battle engine change, not an in-battle gimmick.>hidden abilities - permanent change to ability options of pokemon, not an in-battle gimmickImpermanent one-off mechanics are not the same as novel battle modes or permanent changes to battle mechanics as a whole.
>garchompConceded, but only one example
>darkraiA mythic. Has not impacted a single relevant format.
>choice itemsThese are not problematic. At the very least they’re no more egregious that Unova’s items.
Sinnoh did, however, include Cress/Heatran. The genies in Unova were pretty bad. Upon review, I do think Sinnoh was slightly worse.
>So you agree Sinnoh started it?I never said it didn’t “start it”, I said it didn’t “kill pokemon”
Sinnoh started a design stall that Unova continued. Neither was bad enough to “kill pokemon” or even constitute a decline. They just improved comparatively less than previous generations.
