I like the game for its QoL and challenge to an extent, but ultimately I lose interest when I sacrifice Pokemon I like for utility and BST. So I started playing Emerald for the first time and its more enjoyable, maybe because it isn't KANTO.
its really fun midgame once it opens up on Celadon. Its fun to find Pokemon, look at the new learnsets and hidden abilities, etc. This joy runs out at the end game after the hurdle of grinding Meowth Nuggets to start another team daunts on your wasted time.
