Random encounters in swoosh, figured the best way is to enter and exit motostoke outskirts, lower % of spawns but there's only 2 patches of grass and you can check and reset it in 10 seconds.

Took a few weeks off work and was breeding some mons yesterday, managed to get both a shiny Rotom and shiny Mareep in one day thanks to shiny charm and MM in BDSP.
I feel kinda guilty for using an obviously hacked Ditto as the base for my breeding now though. Wasn't even going for shiny just trying to get some competitive ready Pokemon for myself and some friends that play.

If you max out the Diglett meter then you get a slight odds boost for shiny pokemon underground but otherwise its the same as everywhere else.
Currently the Shiny Charm is fucking broken and only helps when breeding. Hopefully they decide that's a bug worth fixing for the next update and we get full functionality back.

3 shiny female Dreepy in 3 days, I've been on like a 10 day drought since. With like 60 hours of hunting in there. I'll get my dude sooner or later and I'm excited. I decided to train the female 0 special attack Dreepy into a Dragapult for a vgc team to entertain me as a distraction while breeding. Otherwise it's been fossils all year for me.

The only way around it is soft resetting until you find a shiny and likely starting a new save file every few thousand to get a new one. Please don't tell me that's what you've been doing because honestly doing 200k+ resets for something virtually impossible is just depressing to read

was cleaning my boxes, then I ended up with a 2nd turtwig. Same 5 perfect stats, and Shell Armor lol

On a related note, I'm surprised my Shroomish was allowed here, but my Rotom wasn't (I know Amity Square has a strict list, but I would've thought that they would've included Rotom by now considering its recent roles )

I need help bros. How do you fin motivation to do really long hunts? I'm hunting roaming Entei/Raikou in HG and am at 2222 SRs. Each reset is on average ~5 mins but can take up to 10 and it's really exhausting. Usually I just hunt while watching videos/livestreams but you have to focus quite a bit for this hunt.

Assume it will take three months then ask yourself if you're prepared to do that.

Take a break from drifloon for a bit, hatch some other eggs for a couple days then go back to it. Sometimes breaking up the monotony is medicine for your psyche

No maybe I didn't explain it well enough sorry if I didn't. I caught the Lugia on crystal. Had it in my party. My hunt was done I had shiny celebi, ho-oh and Lugia. Celebi I transferred to bank. Ho-oh was in the box. Lugia un party. One of three cousins grabbed 3ds while I was busy. The try to retrieve ho-oh because it looked cool. Party full they somehow release it. Instead of turning it off right then they change box. "We just wanted to see the other Pokemon" ho-oh was in it's own dedicated box. Uncle is a gen 2er put Jr in the corner. Aunt thinks "oh this is too much they said they were sorry." After dinner they leave I finally start gold.

Finally snagged a Shiny Charizard. Feels kinda bad that it's from an obviously RNG manipulated Raid (it was ran by that discord bot), but as long as I caught it myself with the normal odds and it has my OT I'm fine with it. Dex nav chaining boosts your odds, and so does fish chaining. Dex nav has a lot more variety, is a lot more fun, and you can even choose your particular mon to hunt by always searching for it and battling only it (chaining). Repels help a lot so you don't accidentally encounter a different mon, and you have to faint the mon each time like in fish chaining too. I believe the chain caps around 45?, and the shiny odds are only boosted on intervals of 5 during the chain (you'll know the one because it'll always be a boosted level too).
I did it for about 13 mons and the longest one took about 400 encounters. Most took 100-200, and I had a few happen in less than 100 or even less than 50.

Breeding for targeted. You also have more control for nature/IVs/Moves if you do it right.
Poke Radar is good for this as well. Might even be the fastest way, but natures are random.
Like you said randomly finding one "feels" better, but it's also a fucking nerve racking thing some times. Here is some butthole clinching moments from my past.

Phasing is annoying when it's a very common pokemon but on some routes you can pick up some nice shinies you wouldn't of thought to hunt before

Because it’s faster/easy, has much higher odds, guarantees the right species and can easily be engineered for ideal IVs.
It’s very much the “my first shiny” way of hunting, as it’s accessible to newcomers.
Is there a problem with this? No. I get that people don’t want to spend hours doing full odds hunts, often phasing multiple times and possibly failing.
But I don’t value a Masuda, along with the above reasons they don’t challenge me so I don’t have any attachment to them. If there’s no challenge behind them they might as well just be any other Pokémon.
