>>49054519>>49054539>>49054674I posted in a pokemon-collecting discord that there is no difference between a "sealed collector" and an "investor" and they DID NOT like that, lmfao.
The seething was hilarious.
It all comes down to their own internal prejudice for "investors." They think their cause is more noble by calling it a "sealed collection" instead of "investing" despite doing the exact same thing. Not to mention, you derive no pleasure from a sealed product on your shelf since you cannot interact or use the product as intended: to open and interact with its contents. The cellophane is doing nothing for your enjoyment of the product. Any pleasure a "sealed collector" gets from their stuff is purely due to the knowledge that its value is increasing over time, and this is misattributed to their idea of a "pure" unopened box.
I mean, just look at that shitty fucking "display" shelf. It looks like a fucking storefront instead of a display.
The problem is that they don't want to admit this. They seethe at the idea of getting something for its future value. So they've created this term as a way of distancing themselves. I don't give a shit if you collect as a diversified form of investing -- just don't lie to yourself that you're different or somehow "better" than those just by renaming it.
