All X Attack, X defense, etc items. Why waste a move to use them in single player? It’s easy enough to play without ever touching them and you can’t even use them in competitive.

It wastes less turns than any stat boosting moves while wasting less slots. Use it on a good mon to wipe the floor with some of the tougher trainers.
It's used all the time in speedruns.

It would still be a tradeoff since Ditto only has 48 HP and the Ditto user can still easily fuck up and blow their load too early. The only thing that would make the boost broken is if switching a Pokemon no longer has priority and they will absolutely never nerf switching
