>>49055422The story isn't super interesting, it's basically a normal Pokemon plot except it's over twice as long, has death, and takes itself more seriously. The main villains are basically Team Galactic except more competent and edgy.
There's nothing technically wrong with the story except for some exceptionally stupid moments, such as one part where several orphans are captured by the evil team and the way to them is blocked off by rocks, and the fighting type gym leader refuses to give you the HM to move them because it's in her dojo's 'code' or whatever the fuck that you need to prove yourself to earn the HM, and everybody around treats this as a completely rational decision by a rational character. However, I've heard this is getting removed in the final update so who knows.
There are some okay characters and a lot of badly written characters, there's like 5 or 6 that fit into the lulsorandumb archetype, most of the cast are women, and most of the male characters are generic nice guys or sadistic monsters, you can tell it was written by a woman or I guess in this case a man pretending to be a woman.
One interesting thing is that not fighting a certain battle does change up story events which is kind of cool, but there's also no real indication that this one battle changes things significantly and even though it develops one character very nicely it also kills them off at the end.
tl;dr the story is bad
However the game itself is pretty good, wouldn't mind if they incorporated some stuff into the main games like actual side areas you're never required to go to you find by backtracking, side quests that last over several badges, etc. Though that is a fairly low bar
