does anyone remember the pokemon black and white leaks in corocoro magazine back in the day? these games were hyped to hell and back, why did they fall so flat when they released, no one talks about them anymore it's always the sequels and johto

I remember when the new pokemon were leaked before the game officially released and I could not contain my disappointment, I was hoping beyond any rational thought that somehow they were faked.

Also something like lower right pic implies a grand wide world that towers over your character, it stirs the imagination into thinking Unova is going to be much more than it actually turned out to be. But hey that's marketing.

I was hyped as hell and do remember coming on here during leak season for BW. I was fascinated with the visual overhaul, the stronger focus on story and human characters, multiple rivals, cinematic intro, and completely new regional dex. Felt like a true next gen Pokemon experience.

It was so different that it was controversial. Some people didn’t like animated sprites, some people thought they were too story heavy, some people hate the Pokémon designs, and some were the complete opposite. I think part of the problem with doing BW and then BW2 is that one of them has to leave a lasting impression, and BW2 was the one that did it instead.

I really liked the plot and all of the new Pokemon, but was disappointed by the offline content and post-game. So, like basically all of Masuda's games (RS, DP, XY), there just wasn't enough to the game beyond the credits. Especially when HGSS just came out in 2009 and was still perfectly playable. People talk about it, and the enhanced versions of Pokemon, because they're always more polished and have more to do.

The legendaries are the yin and yang pokemon. Instant hype.

i've never been more hyped for a game
your pic fills me with nostalgia as i remember seeing the first shots of the game and how impressed i was by the overworld sprites. i still can't believe they released 10 years ago, they will always be the "next gen" in my head.
even if gen 5 isn't my favourite, the hype season was gold.
