Game Freak felt compelled to remake Gen IV due to fan expectations but were too busy developing Legends to bother doing it themselves, so they passed the project off to an inexperienced studio, with the result being a low effort cash grab (as this could've just been a remake of the singular (and vastly superior) Platinum instead of paired games) full of glitches, bugs, and poor design decisions. Wish they would fix some of the problems with the actual substance of the game instead of focusing entirely on their retarded and homosexual crusade against glitches.
Rushing a fix for the softlocks and the earlier menu glitch I get, those are things that were easy to randomly encounter and could disrupt the game for children or anyone who didn’t know to watch out for them. But the new menu glitch is horrendously contrived and you’re not going to encounter it without specifically trying to. Fixing it doesn’t actually improve quality of gameplay for anyone at all. So stupid.

They didn't change enough. It's fine if you wanted to play DP but slightly better, but we already had platinum for that. It's a massive disappointment if you were expecting an ORAS level of remake.

No Pokemon beyond gen 4 in the post game, no platinum dex, limited TMs, tons of moves removed from the game, the game is still slow as fuck, etc.

I don't have any real problems with it, aside from the weird audio bugs that pop up from time to time. I've put in almost 300 hours, having a great time. This is the first Pokemon game I've played since XY, so maybe I like it so much because Pokemon as a whole feels fresh to me again after such a long break.

Honestly havent thought about them at all. Barebones remaster that used all the dialogue/story and shitty diaper dex and tried to make up for it by cramming the platdex mons in the rng underground, but left all the route encounter tables and npc teams the same. Forced amie and xp share that negates all difficulty. Tried to make up for this by cramming in smoglite rematches but their difficulty is nullified once again by said broken mechanics. Shit games. I was never a huge sinnoh fan but if I ever want to experience it again I'll play platinum.

Better than DP, content-wise it’s a side grade to Platinum. I prefer Platinum still but it’s also one of my top 3 so that’s a high bar regardless. As remakes they’re better than ORAS but I’m not sure as overall games

Not even that. At least ORAS has 721 Pokemon, considerably more than Emerald's 386. It also has the Physical-Special Split, the PSS (best online), and Day-Night cycle not present in Emerald. How has BDSP modernized Platinum? Fairy types? New moves? No HMs? Those changes honestly aren't as significant, and you can get both Tropius and Bibarel, who can learn all 8 Sinnoh HMs, in Platinum.

BTW, the Platinum move tutors don't exist in BDSP, which upsets me since Honchkrow can't learn Heat Wave or Superpower. So it's a trade off when it comes to moves too.

Not too bad actually. If you don't care about the modern QoL updates or multiplayer, you can probably just play the originals or something like Renegade Platinum. But Wi-Fi battling is the most fun it's been in years. Most stuff is currently viable due to the currently limited movepools (no TR moves in BDSP, so no Superpower Scizor, Outrage Kingdra, etc). Maybe that'll change if Pokémon can be transferred from SwSh, but it's a super refreshing meta. Pretty much all the fun of PBR.

This game has awful presentation. Battles shouldn't feel this sluggish. The game processing, resolving effects, and text boxes needlessly take up so much time. Despite no longer moving at 5 FPS, the game still feels as slow as the originals due to inefficient and unoptimized bullshit like the incessant Amie dialogue at the beginning of every turn, move effectiveness text appearing a whole second after the attack animation, etc. When all this shit adds up across a play-through, it feels like being stuck in a sterile mental hospital.

BDSP, as a remake, is the lowest effort of the four. As ILCA's first full game, it's pretty good. As a Pokemon game, it's alright.
It hits a lot of good marks (rematches, music still sounds great, availability of Pokemon, HM adjustment, Underground is still addictive), but it also has a good chunk of shitty aspects (braindead AI outside of gym leaders, the affection system is so broken you HAVE TO routinely pump your team full of herbs to negate it, statues in the secret bases don't mean shit but show up constantly, the following pokemon are made more "unique" but it makes Pokemon like Torterra and Spiritomb a slog to walk with).
I spent $30 of my own money for it and I think it's worth that. Not sixty.
