>>49069058It makes me sad for kids that grow up with these newer generation games. I remember being like 6 years old and borrowing my friend's older brother's gamebody and copy of blue. Being a dumb kid I somehow missed that you were supposed to get flash and use it to get through rock tunnel, but I figured that was just supposed to be a challenging part of the game. I battled through it, constantly getting surprised by trainers, probably whiting out dozens of times and getting lost and ending up back at the start even more often. But, I made it through eventually and felt like the baddest motherfucker in town. I got walled at victory road until I returned to the games when I was older but I still loved playing the games (I had since gotten my own gameboy color and my friend and his brother had gotten an xbox and just given me blue and silver version). When I was 8 or 9 I got a gamebody advance SP and a copy of emerald, and making it through victory road and completing a game that was truly mine was an amazing feeling because there was actual struggle involved in winning. You can basically beat these new games by closing your eyes and spamming the A button. I can't imagine it's a rewarding experience in the slightest.
