I made an edit to following Platinum about a month or so ago that added some more mons and edits to existing mons and I remember stumbling across an archive thread saying that they couldn't encounter certain Pokemon that I added and I wanted to say that I couldn't encounter a couple Pokemon either (Spheal, Sunkern) and the Pokemon each person was having trouble encountering was different, so idk what the problem is. Sorry.

Platinum is literally the only 3rd version that actually upgraded and fixed the original games, and not just simply add extra content.
BP were absolutely garbage without this game.

DPPt does feel like the most phoned in by the numbers Pokemon game

it just copied everything gen 3 did but with worse execution and they couldn't even put in a good online system or good performance after having to delay the game

Whatever else is comparable in terms of function and gym badge progression. Abandoned Ship would be better compared with Fuego Ironworks since they're both completely optional and only available after the 4th gym. Mt Coronet is hard to say since it's such a unique type of gauntlet even when looking at the franchise as a whole. If I HAD to I guess it'd be comparable to the long stretch of ocean routes around eastern Hoenn but I'm sure there's a better example.

You're missing the point dumb Sinnohzoomer. It's nice to know that GF can fix their messes, but they still need to make a new product and they failed to do that for literally every gen 4 game barring maybe HGSS

This but unironically. DP had a solid foundation and lots of innovative ideas, but fell flat because it was rushed and unpolished as fuck. Platinum gave it the refinement it needed to be a great game.
If only we had Z to give the same treatment to X and Y.
