>>49083883I started playing Pokémon in sixth grade with a black and white Gameboy Pocket and a copy of Red. Playing Let’s Go was amazing. It was everything I dreamed about in a Pokémon game as a child. 3D overworld and battles. Great music. Partner Pokémon and Pokémon following you.
I was honestly skeptical of the catching system, but now I love it. Catching chains are great because they guarantee great stats and can even result in Shiny Pokémon with great stats. Further, they kept catching battles for key Pokémon which allowed me to legitimately beat Mewtwo without losing the chance to catch it (or soft resetting, obviously).
Today’s episode was great. Using the girl character with the oval Pikachu was genius. I didn’t expect it, but it makes sense. Red isn’t the cannon protagonist in Let’s Go. People likely expected the girl to have Eevee, so it was a clever switch up.
It also clearly established Let’s Go as a unique universe and expanded the lore (Green was given a Pokédex by Oak in this world?!?). Her blue Pokédex was also a nice touch.
Overall, 10/10 episode.
