>>49086989Really gonna have to explain the motives of both and their use of DLC, huh?
Right, Pokémon usually released a rehash of the region, for full price after launching a new Gen. No-one would buy "Pokémon Lance/Super Sword/Shield/whatever the fuck" because $60 for the tier of content thrid versions usually added was not going to be paid by anyone, save kids and they wanted to draw a BIT more money than that. Hence, rehashes get binned, the *new* content in-region gets added to the base and people WILL pay $90 for Game+DLC (as evidenced by Nintendo namechecking Pokémon's DLC as a large part of its digital income last fiscal year).
With Smash, it's one-a-system, whenever it goes on sale, that's it. So they add DLC fighters (fan picks, crossovers, promotionals) to help bump the numbers for the game every so often, have done since being able to deliver digital content.
You understand? Game Freak replaced a traditional overpriced game with little new content additions with a wholly-new, more expansive content package, added directly onto the player's base game (meaning they get to continue progress with it, a large part of normies not buying into rehashes, starting off all over again), Nintendo do it so keep Smash in the public eye.
And if "they don't give a fuck anymore" they wouldn't have released BDSP or made Legends, they'd just have tacked on MORE DLC to Sword and have done with. but they didn't, almost as if they understand new games keep kids flocking to the brand year on year, better than any meme letters would do, when used repeatedly through a generation, like you smooth brained faggots think.
