It's a gacha and you should know that if you want to get into the game. But it's very f2p friendly with some popular (and powerful) characters being free, and the rates aren't that bad. The difficulty is quite low, which lots of anons dislike but I enjoy a lot because it allows me (f2p) to use favorite trainers, sometimes not powerful.
More importantly, I absolutely adore just having all trainers from all regions interacting together. It just makes me happy, and there's lots of cutscenes so it's very pleasing.
Gameplay wise, it isn't good. Or more precisely, it's very basic. If you want a challenging game this isn't for you (pokemon isn't for you).
