As for being shallow, maybe it is, but that's arguably true for other battle facilities as well. As an example, it's incredibly easy to cheese (for my personal experience, I'm sure we can think of others like True Ant) Gen 6's Battle Masion Triples, it rarely involves actual thought. I guess it depends what you want, 3 battles of a reasonable challenge or 200 battles of basically nothing.
>>49087878Using an actual character rather than somebody random helps make things feel more interesting. There's a reason ever post-Emerald battle facility has a character that's either the face of it, or a familiar face from a previous game. Of course, sometimes random NPCs do have something to them, if they reference a specific one that can lead to interesting things (imagine fucking Youngster Joey in the Battle Tower with a FEAR set, that would be mildly amusing).
