The game will probably do well simply from the fact that it's a new direction for the series. Probably not as well as SwSh but I could easily see it doing ~10M

The appeal of the games are completely different. People buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo stuff, they buy Playstations for Fifa, GTA, TLoU, FromSoft stuff, etc. Everything you CAN'T get on Nintendo.
Not to mention the superior hardware and better online.
Hell, the PS2 was technically inferior to the Gamecube and look what happened there.

dumbass, spinoffs are never marketed as heavily. the shift in gameplay does play a role but the shift in spinoffs is usually much more drastic than legends. legends is more of an evolution of the original style. Spinoffs are by no means a flop, given they usually require much less time and effort than main games and still manage to sell millions at times, something many franchises wish they could achieve. regardless Go (the biggest pokemon release since RGB) disproves the notion that spinoffs always sell like shit

Not really saying a lot since spin-offs vary wildly in quality from Conquest and PMD to Trozei and Rumble and Pokemon has a bunch of them.

This one is probably one of the more in-depth spin-offs, so it might sell better.

actually less. no multiplayer, very few trainer battles. focus is mostly catching and watching mons use moves. literally just 1 town and the rest is 5-6 wild areas, all of which looks like shit. at least swshit had traditional content that people enjoyed, plus multiplayer raids and even dlcs.
